Going for Gold

Part 2 of the games as the second and final week draws to a close! I have not been able to pry Mrs. BB from the television for the duration. She is a winter Olympic junkie.

Norway and Canada are neck and neck in the medal race.

Canada is going for gold. Canadians say they are really only interested in the (ice) hockey, the national sport, and maybe curling. This is a thinly veiled disguise. It is the first time in history we have won gold on home turf and all of the athletes are going for gold.

Norway has the largest total winter Olympic medal haul in history. Outstanding achievement and a more than worthy opponent: wholly understandable if you live here!. They say Norwegians are born with skis on their feet which goes some way to explaining their domination in the Alpine and Nordic events!

It can get a bit heated on the home sofa in front of the television with Mrs. BB, for reasons of the sporting variety. To be fair, we both cheer each other’s side in less-competitive situations (she cheers the Canadian hockey team, I cheer the Norwegian Nordic event competitors, and we meet at the curling).

Canada and Norway face each other in the curling men’s final. A somewhat obscure and sleepy sport has been transformed by the Norwegian team wearing Loudmouth trousers, and the Canadian curling fans behaving more like they were attending a UK soccer match!

The maths are exciting. We shall see!

Good luck to all of the Canadian and Norwegian competitors in the final days.

And good luck to your fellow countrymen Mrs. BB, but you will understand, this is one bet I do not wish to lose! Stor klem! x

I'm not a sports fan and I haven't been watching any of the Olympics, but....

The beauty of being an American married to a Norwegian...our countries are nearly polar opposites when it comes to winter sport strengths. Except for the Nordic Combined...eat that, Weegies, gold and silver to us! Hahahahaaa!!

Anyway, those pants have probably done more for the sport of curling than...oh, I don't know what.

Commenting now just after another gold medal for Norway: Biathlon relay for men - so if you're sofa is hot, what do you think our's is? (I'm married to an American you know)!

See you in the curling final tomorrow BB - Me and wife send our greetings to both of you!

I did a search for curling pants to see what all the fuss is about - the pants even have their own facebook page!

I was gutted to hear Norway lost to Canada in the curling but I do believe the game is more popular than ever because of the Norwegian team pants. Anyway, your Canadian ladies smashed us ('Murica)in hockey, so enjoy that. We're enjoying our medal count. ;-)
